A 95-year-old man has been charged with 22 counts of child sexual assault dating back to the 1960s, some of which allegedly took place in Lismore.
In May 2014, an investigation was commenced into allegations of child sexual assault involving four female children.
The first known offence was alleged to have been committed on a three-year-old child in Marsden Park in 1962, and subsequent offences involving females under the age of 10 through to 1996.
These assaults are alleged to have occurred in various suburbs across Sydney, including Schofields and Cronulla, and across northern NSW, including Scotts Head, Bowraville and Lismore.
Detectives from Quakers Hill Local Area Command attended the home of a 95-year-old man in Nambucca Heads on the state’s north coast on 2 April.
He was served with a notice to attend Parramatta Local Court on 21 May 2015 for the offences of assault female and commit act of indecency on person under 16 (x7), carnal knowledge (x11), buggery (x1) and aggravated indecent assault (x3).
Police said the investigation was ongoing and that they would like to speak with anyone with further information that could assist.
