*** Coming Up: The Artie Booth Men’s Three Bowl Pairs will be held on Monday 14th April and carries a prize pool of $2000.00. The Easter Saturday Bonanza, two games of two bowl triples, will be held on 19th April and also carries a prize pool of $2000.00.

 Pennants: The job of selectors is never an easy one, but with all divisions having wins in Round One, it appears that our selectors did their job well. Congratulations to all players and selectors. In Round Two we will again have four divisions playing at home. Division 2 plays Brunswick Heads, Divisions 3 and 6 play Cabarita and Division 7 plays Ocean Shores. Division 1 plays Ocean Shores at Ocean Shores and Division 5 plays Brunswick Heads at Brunswick. Practice will be held on Friday afternoon commencing at 3:00pm.

Tweed Valley Shield: Congratulations to all bowlers who played in this competition. Kingscliff finished in first place in Division A and were Runners Up Division B.

Kingscliff Women

Pennant Results:  Congratulations to the Grade 4 Pennant Team.  In the last three rounds, the team added 8 points to their overall score  to reach a total of 36.5 points and won the District Pennant.  Well done!  District Flag presentations will be held at Cudgen Leagues May 26. The side will continue on to the Region 1 pennant playoffs to be held  June 17th – 18th in the Clarence District.  The Grade 2 team played well during the season and reached a total point score of 23 points.

*** The Cross Border Shield completed the season with a fun day at Tugun.  Those who took part in the series gained valuable experience playing at other clubs in a format similar to pennants and had fun doing it. 

In spite of many of our members busy with Pennants and Cross Border Games, Social bowls continued through March with good attendance most weeks.  Women’s social bowls are played every Wednesday starting at 12:30 pm.  Visitors are welcome.

Entries into District Pairs and Singles close April 16 with games to be played in June and July. Details, including entry forms, are on the board. 

The next monthly meeting will be held  Wed. April 16 at 10.30.

2014 District Pennant are now completed.  This tournament attracted the best of our great bowlers to vie for the prestigious flag up for grabs in each grade.  Competition throughout the contest was quite fierce with many games going down to the wire.  Congratulations to the winners who will now go forward to contest the Regional flags at Grafton in June.  Results for the 2014 District Pennant are as follows.

Teven Golf Club Men’s Division held an 18 holes Stroke competition for the Monthly Medal on Saturday morning April  5with a 6.45am shotgun start.  The results were:  Winner: Robert Tillman (Net 49 off 72).  Runner up: Denis Leard (Net 50 off 72).  Ball run down:  Ian Coochiroff (Net 52), Ian McDuff (Net 53), Geoff Colnan (Net 54), Graham Mains (Net 55), Stuart McDonald (Net 57).  Nearest the Pins:  4th:  Ian McDuff;  8th:  Jim McGarry; 14th:  Stuart McDonald.  Putting:  Ian Coochiroff (25 putts).

The Men’s Division held a 9 hole Stableford competition and third round of the Stableford Championship on Saturday morning April 12 with a 6.30am shotgun start.  The results were:  Winner: Steve Blackmore (23 points) on a countback from the  Runner up: Stuart McDonald (23 points).  Ball run down:  Terry Prendergast (22 points), Robert Tillman (20 points), Ian McDuff (20 points), Bill Wayte (20 points), Graham Mains (19 points).  Nearest the Pins:  4th:  Garry Bourke;  8th:  Steve Blackmore.  Putting:  A three way tie on 13 putts for Steve Blackmore, Bill Wayte, Stuart McDonald.

Chris Strybos won the Handicap Singles competition with Raini Kahn second and Max Schleuter third. The doubles competion final was a very close match with Raini Kahn & Matt Ostella defeating Mark Smith & Max Schlueter 3-2.

April 10

It was a count-back of games for/against in the Handicap Singles Event for first, Raini Kahn (+1) and second Chris Strybos and then again for third Mark Smith and fourth Peter McKenzie. The doubles competion final was won by Mark Smith & Matt Ostella 3-0 from Chris Strybos & Pele Safra.
