The first in a series of major campaigns to halt the construction of four proposed dosing facilities in the northern rivers kicked off Monday morning in Clunes.

Campaigner Al Oshlack said, ‘Notwithstanding the overwhelming scientific documentation of adverse health impacts of fluoridated water to the the community, a recent spill in Dungog [in the upper Hunter region] has highlighted the the dangers that fluoride poses to the environment.

Spill at Dungog

‘The spill at Dungog was investigated by the EPA, who have not proceeded with any prosecution of the culprit, Hunter Water.

‘This shows that the authorities are disregarding any regulatory responsibility to bring to heel blatant acts of pollution. There is no safety in these plants and over the last 12 months the dosing plant at Casino has had numerous breakdowns.

Mr Oshlack says a blockade camp will be set up at Corndale, where construction of the biggest dosing plant has commenced.

Byron Shire is not included in the fluoridation plans.

  1. how any of these idiot politicians can defend putting toxic waste in the water supply under the mistaken pretext that its good for teeth despite studies that amply prove otherwise is beyond me… these people are intellectual midgets and simply have a ruthless disregard for life…. utterly disgusting little criminals, the lot of them

  2. doing great job stop the fluoride, the dr who stated that is good for you true naturaul fluoride is but what they are putting in our water is sodium fluoride which is a waste product which is a posion

      • Govt rules state the average 4-8 year olds ( about 22kg ) should have an adequate daily intake (ADI) of only 1.0 mg/litre.
Their Upper limit (UL) to prevent dental fluorosis is 2.2 mg/litre.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand, FSANZ, calculated in their 23rd Total diet study that the average 4-8 year old male ingests from diet 1.84 mg/litre, above the ADI.
FSANZ calculated in their 23rd Total diet study that the average 4-8 year old female ingests from diet 1.66 mg/litre, above the ADI.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand, FSANZ, calculated in their 23rd Total diet study that at 95th percentile 4-8 year old male ingests from diet 2.58 mg/litre, above the UL.
FSANZ calculated in their 23rd Total diet study that at 95th percentile 4-8 year old female ingests from diet 2.25 mg/litre, above the UL.

    • I think that people should research themselves before accusing people of ‘quack’ positions.

At the very least, we should use respect to listen and understand others perspectives and engage in a civil dialogue – otherwise people get confused between a firmly held ‘belief’ vs what the science really says.

In the linked study it shows flourides unintended consequences regarding disease, the pineal gland and early onset puberty in females.

By all means you have the absolute right to use fluoride supplements if you wish to in addition to toothpase (topical application of Sodium Fluoride is the most effective dose and application) – but I have the right NOT to consume excess fluoride.

This is the reason fluoride must be removed from water supplies. Hard facts I’m afraid.

  3. In addition to being ineffective for teeth and damaging to health,
Fluoridation is a WASTE of Tax Money

All Civil Engineers and all water managers know that people drink only 1/2% of the water they use. The rest goes directly down the drain in toilets, showers, dishwashers, etc.
So for each $1000 of fluoride added annually to drinking water, people drink $5 and $995 is wasted down the drain. Children would drink only $0.50 (fifty cents).

That would be comparable to buying one gallon of milk, using six-and-one-half drops of it, and pouring the rest of the gallon in the sink.

    • The “wasted on lawn care” argument that anti-fluoride activists make is so ridiculous. Folic acid is added to breads and cereals even though we know that some slices of bread will get stale and be tossed out (instead of being eaten). Chlorine is still added to water even though we know that not all water is consumed. So what? It improves health and it’s cost-effective.

If all water were consumed, we’d save even more money, but most people would
agree that saving $38 for every dollar spent on fluoridation is a damn good
return. If we could get that kind of return on our mutual funds, we would all
      retire by our early 40s.

  4. The following are some good sources of information on fluoride and artificial water fluoridation: the Fluoride Action Network, Declan Waugh’s work, the books The Case Against Fluoride and The Fluoride Deception, the 2006 US National Research Council report Fluoride in Drinking Water: A Scientific Review of EPA’s Standards, and the peer-reviewed journal Fluoride.

The forced-fluoridation experiment is medical malpractice on an industrial scale. Fluoridation chemicals are the only medications which are delivered via public water supplies. Medicating public water supplies with any chemical violates the human rights and medical ethics principle of informed consent to medical intervention, is entirely indiscriminate, results in the random dosing of residents since the fluoride dose received from water and other sources is uncontrolled, and is environmentally irresponsible because the vast majority of tap water is not ingested, so the environmental load is vastly greater than it needs to be. Medicating public water supplies means that politicians are subjecting everyone to treatment which no doctor can legally impose on anyone, and is surely the most ham-fisted method of drug delivery ever devised.

Medicating public water supplies with fluoridation chemicals is especially egregious, because fluoride is a cumulative poison with a half life in the body of around 20 years, there was no good quality scientific research which indicated that forced-fluoridation was anything but harmful and useless in the 1940s and there still isn’t any, the best quality scientific research which has been conducted indicates that forced-fluoridation is in fact both harmful and useless, the fluoridation chemicals which are used are industrial grade rather than pharmaceutical grade, and fluoride is not biodegradable. The forced-fluoridation experiment is unethical, illegal, irrational, archaic, pseudoscientific, and all risk, no reward.

  5. There are just three things that are certain. Death, taxes, and the constant presence of the idiot fringe. Instead of rushing off to blockade Clunes why not come to the Tweed. You could have an excellent cup of coffee in our cafes and observe casually the lack of people falling out of trees from fluoride poisoning. One might also check the hospital records and see the dozens of people falling like flies (not) from the insidious effects of fluoridation. One might then make the sensible decision to put one’s efforts into Global Warming or some other real threat to our existence rather than attacking the dental health and mental well being of the most defenseless people in our society, the children.

    • I really wish toxic waste pushing ignoramuses would stop associating climate science with fluoridationist nonsense. Climate change is extremely serious, and the science credible, unlike fluoridation “science”. Thinking that everything which has had the label “science” slapped onto it is all the same is about as dumb as it gets. Fluoridation and the reckless burning of fossil fuels are both examples of grossly irresponsible pollution carried out to further corporate interests at the expense of the public, and in defiance of the best scientific knowledge and the precautionary principle. It is unlikely to just be a coincidence that America and Australia are especially guilty in relation to both. When a dentist supports industrial silicofluoride toxic waste pollution, it is similar to a geologist supporting carbon pollution, because they are both speaking outside their area of expertise. Whenever anyone speaks in favour of forced-fluoridation they are just blowing hot air, because there is no good quality evidence they can cite, and because the whole idea of using public water supplies to medicate populations is ridiculous to everyone with at least a little common sense.

    • Vince Kean….uninformed statements are just uninformed statements from someone without any research it seems. Vince: 97 % of Europe is non fluoridated and if u look at the W.H.O. stats you will find out that decline in fluoridated or non fluoridated countires has been identical for the past 20 years plus….fluoride or not…amazing !!!…what does that say about fluoride…..40% of teenagers in fluoridated countries have dental fluorosis cause bty fluoridatio ! what that means, Vince, is that the 50% of fluoride poison that stays in your body and is accumulated in your bones ihas now arrived in your theeth and is discouloring and destroying them.To mention all other scientific proofen facts about the danger of it would take a day ! That it is medicating without consent is what a Nazi countruy would do, forcefull medication ( Verdict European Court 2005 !!!!!) only 5% of the planet uses this poison tht has NEVER BEEN PROOFEN to be safe…NEVER Vince !!!!1this year alone nore then 20 shires in the U>S> stopped fluoridation, so did Cairns, Byron is free and more and more are pulling out of this disaster ! Do some research for the health of your kids and parents, mate !!!

      • . From a recent issue of the newsletter of the New Zealand National Fluoride Information Service:
“Countries with widespread water fluoridation programmes include Australia, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. Countries with limited water fluoridation programmes include Vietnam, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and South Korea.
Several countries are unable to introduce water fluoridation programmes due to technical, financial or sociocultural reasons. As an alternative, both salt and milk have been found to be reliable and convenient vehicles for increasing fluoride intake to an optimal level for hard to reach and low socio-economic communities. Studies have found them to be as effective as community water fluoridation schemes.
Some European, Latin American, and Caribbean countries, including France, Switzerland, Germany, Costa rica, Colombia and Jamaica currently use fluoridated salt schemes. Mexico and most Latin American and Caribbean countries (apart from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and French Guyana) have or have had salt fluoridation programmes.
A smaller number of countries currently have fluoridated milk programmes, including Bulgaria, Chile, China, Peru, Russia, Thailand and the United Kingdom
Some country regions have optimal amounts of naturally occurring fluoride which provides good protection for oral health. examples of countries supplied with naturally fluoridated water at or around the optimum level needed to prevent dental decay include the United Kingdom (estimated 329,000 people), United States of America (estimated 10,078,000 people) Canada (estimated 300,000 people) and Australia (estimated 144,000 people).
It is estimated that 39.5 million people around the world have access to naturally fluoridated water at the optimal level although variations from one community to another over time make it difficult to calculate an accurate total.”

  6. The metal and phosphate companies must be scrambling right now by 1) Throwing as much money into keeping water fluoridation going and 2) Figuring out what they are going to do with all of their toxic waste when they can no longer use our public drinking water supply as a garbage dump. We are waking up.

  7. I have read baby formula packaging must now come with warnings not to use fluoridated water if solely feeding baby with formula milk..

Also, Ballina Council advises in their newsletter that fluoride can be removed with reverse osmosis filters which is not correct as many of these filters don’t do the job.
Vince Kean, every human being is of equal value; fluoride harms mental health and most people opposing forced fluoridation also are active against other toxic threats. Did you show up at Bentley?

  8. non, Tony ! except you want a 5 years old to grow up with accumulated flouride poison in his bones(which is were it ends up) and have a 40 % chance to end up with dental fluorosis when hitting teenager years…u wanna put a toxic waste prodict in a 5 years old ??? no, u wanna do research and save a ypung liife becoming a toxic person !…..ww.robert gammal.com…go to fluoride…this man is a dentist !!

  9. Oak Ridge, TN, USA
Oak Ridge Reservation, home of the gaseous diffusion plant, K25, uranium enrichment process.
The operation of this bomb plant contributed toward huge losses of Freon into the atmosphere
as part of the “Manhattan Project”. a huge fluorine accident release near Buffalo [Tonawanda] was covered up, the Du Pont chemical works in New Jersey whose fluorine production problems devastated Peach crops, Other industries like the aluminum and steel industries also sought to cover up huge health effects like the fluoride disaster at Donora, Pa. and the Reynolds works on the St. Lawrence. The DuPont company and Detroit’s General Motors formed a Freon Company called Kinetic Chemicals and the Manhattan Project would come to use lots of their product. Detroit’s Chrysler Motors made the diffusion tanks for the K-25 building’s uranium separation stages and each diffusion tank or “diffuser” carried a brass Chrysler Motors nametag and serial number. Freon would not cause the system to explode or gunk up the system from a leak. Inclusion of General Motors into the Manhattan Project brought in the Kettering Research Group of Cincinnati and the huge cover up methods on lead and fluorine toxicity. DuPont owns the Ethyl Company that made the lead for leaded gasoline. Kettering was the president of General Motors and he and another of his G-M cohorts are what the New York based Sloan-Kettering Cancer Hospital is named after. These connections started some of the most serious of the chemical injury and cancer cover up rackets in the US. Kettering Research Group of Cincinnati sequesters, for polluting industries, all the highly damaging industry information on fluoride and lead from the public.

Just some of the early influences on putting a smiling face on fluorides and other nasty chemicals.

Youth crime is increasing – what to do?

There is something strange going on with youth crime in rural and regional Australia. Normally, I treat hysterical rising delinquency claims with a pinch of salt – explicable by an increase in police numbers, or a headline-chasing tabloid, or a right-wing politician.
