‘There goes the neighbourhood’ the pig from the Rails cartoon exclaimed in the recent issue of the Byron Shire Echo (May 11 ) after the Monopoly guy says he will ‘buy everything and develop it’.
This scene has played out in Azalea st Mullumbimby this week. Two Development Applications , DA 10.2016.248.1 and DA 10.2016.250.1, from the same applicant, have been submitted to subdivide both Nos. 16 and 32 Azalea Street.
This quiet-tree lined street is being threatened with increased noise, traffic and the reduction in vegetation as well as a total change to the relaxed nature of the street.
The application is for No. 16 to be subdivided into five lots, and No. 32 to be subdivided into three lots.
Please help save this street from over development by writing a submission to council opposing both these applications before 25 May.
