A man charged with assaulting two Lismore police officers has had his chance at drug rehabilitation withdrawn after allegedly assaulting another inmate in Grafton jail.
On January 11, police allege Levi Holland broke into a unit in Dixon Place, Lismore, while armed with a hammer, and demanded property from a female resident.
The 26 year-old then allegedly demanded the keys to the woman’s Mazda, with the intent to steal the car.
Police were called and when they arrived at the scene it is alleged Mr Holland, of Tatham, assaulted a male and a female senior constable during his arrest.
Then, at Lismore police station, it is alleged Mr Holland intimidated six officers while he was being charged.
On Tuesday at Lismore Local Court Mr Holland was represented by his solicitor Rod Behan.
Court documents revealed Mr Holland had been granted bail to attend the Tabulam based Balunda drug rehabilitation program after being assessed as suitable.
Last week, while in custody at Grafton jail waiting to begin the Balunda program, Mr Holland allegedly assaulted another inmate who had also been granted bail to Balunda, documents stated.
‘Following further consideration of Mr Holland’s suitability to enter the Balunda program, he has been re-assessed as not suitable due to him posing a risk to the good order of the centre,’ court documents stated.
Magistrate David Heilpern adjourned Mr Holland’s matters until April 18 when it is anticipated he may again apply for bail when appearing via videolink.
