A medical team were winched onto the cruise ship Carnival Spirit yesterday by the Westpac Helicopter, 40 nautical miles east of Coffs Harbour, to treat a 70 year old patient. The helicopter returned and landed at Coffs Harbour waiting for the confirmation to return to winch the patient and medical team from the Carnival Spirit.

The 70 year old man was treated on board the cruise ship before he and the medical team were winched off. He was then flown to Coffs Harbour Hospital for further treatment.
