NSW Police have confirmed that at about 2am Sunday, February 11, emergency services were called to a home in Mullumbimby following reports of a concern for welfare.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated two babies at the house – one died at the scene, and another was taken hospital where it died later on.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Wow, I trusted the Echo before reading this.
    But knowing this family, and knowing their story, this article is full of lies.
    So sad we can’t trust journalism in Australia.
    Won’t bother reading the echo ever again.

    • Ms Heniuk,

      Which of the reported items is a lie:

      * The time and date – 2am Sunday, February 11?

      * Emergency services were called?

      * Paramedics treated two babies?

      * One babe died on scene; one later in hospital?

      * Police established a crime scene and are investigating the incident?

      * A report will be prepared for the Coroner?

      Each of those items is part of a police report. If you have an argument with any reported ‘facts’, complain to the police. The Echo was merely reiterating the police report. The Echo is not at fault.

      It’s good to question any media article. Do you unquestioningly accept everything you read on the (anti)social media?
