Repair work on Lismore’s Terania Street between Lismore and Nimbin is to start soon, in time for it reopen end of June, after an overweight vehicle hit the over-rail-road bridge earlier this year.
Transport NSW North Region Director Anna Zycki says specialist engineers have been working on traffic management measures aimed at preventing future strikes, including traffic calming treatments.
The calmers are designed to slow down light vehicles and restrict heavy vehicle access to Terania Street.
Transport for NSW says some of the calming designs to be introduced in the next few weeks include speed bumps, a 25 km/h speed limit and a lane with restrictions.
There is also to be a new a ‘no right turn’ restriction entering and exiting Peate Street.
A temporary restriction is to apply to all vehicles weighing more than 4.5 tons from going onto the road approaching the bridge.
This is just ludicrous just get rid of the rotten old viaduct.
