Push for free conservation rezoning as report reveals Byron habitat protection gap

Byron Shire landholders could be offered a free pathway to stronger conservation zoning under a proposal coming before today’s Council meeting, following a report identifying significant gaps in protection for the Shire’s valuable habitat.

I have just read a report from National Public Radio in the US that huge tech companies are aggressively developing data projects in Australia because there is so much resistance to them in the US.

We need to show them that we don’t want their greedy, water-stealing and energy-consuming (subsidised by local Aussies), ugly and noisy buildings. They will create no jobs and all the profits go back to the one per cent in the US.

They are also part of developing the ‘surveillance state’. Since it appears Albanese (and the LNP and One Nation) and Minns are all on board to sell out Australia to Big Tech we need to organise like we did to stop the fracking in the Northern Rivers. One data centre has already been stopped near Sydney so it can be done.

Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Bring Out Your Dead

Having a dead father made me different to other kids. I was six when he died, and in a small town even I knew that for the week of his death, our family was all anyone was talking about. The 30-year-old, wild and misunderstood Robert, who drove his powder blue Valiant, drunk, head on into an oncoming vehicle, killing the grandfather of someone who I was to later meet in high school. It was a collision that changed my life forever.
