New parking restrictions will be coming into force throughout the Byron Shire on March 26.
The holiday period was busy for Byron Shire Council’s enforcement team with 11 staff working early and finishing late. Some 200 fines were handed out for illegal camping and another 900 for parking-related issues.
A fine for parking in a disabled space in the Byron Woolies carpark has been withdrawn by Byron Shire Council after the motorist challenged whether the signage was visible and whether council could legally patrol the area.
