Tweed Heads surfer Mick Fanning defeated Fred Patacchia (HAW) to advance into the quarterfinals of the Oakley Pro Bali on yesterday. Fanning’s result sees him rocket to the World No 1 position after ratings leader Kelly Slater (USA) was eliminated during round five.
