Brendon Troy Griffiths of Tweed Heads West has been remanded in custody after being charged with murder over the death of a man at Tweed Heads last month.
About 6.15pm on Saturday, 48-year-old Hoani Shaune Love was involved in an altercation with a man outside a shopping centre on Wharf Street, Tweed Heads.
Mr Love was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital with head injuries and later transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital where his condition deteriorated and he died on Tuesday 30 September.
Detectives from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command formed Strike Force Findo to investigate Mr Love’s death and last week joined the man’s daughter in a public appeal for information.
The investigation culminated last night (Monday), when strike force investigators arrested 38-year-old Griffiths at his home on Lakes Drive in Tweed Heads West.
He was interviewed at Tweed Heads police station and charged with murder.
He is to appear before Lismore Court on December 2.
