A group of 35 dedicated adult and teenage Karateka attended the Kase Ha Shotokan Karate Do & Practical Self-Defence Seminar held in Byron Bay two weeks agao.
Bangalow-based chief instructor Jean Boussard is a fourth Dan in Karate Do, which he has been practising since his teens, and a second Dan in Taekwon Do, after four years spent in Korea.
Jean said he teaches ‘efficiency, as martial arts are lethal knowledge, but above all, with an holistic approach that incorporates meditation in every session and the understanding of one’s own vital energy. The body becomes stronger and flexible, the emotions calm and serene, the mind as clear as a limpid lake (the Japanese ‘Kokoro’) and one ultimately gains in spiritual elevation’.
