Motorists are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions from Sunday on the Pacific Motorway, Tweed Heads, to carry out essential asphalt maintenance work on the Tugun bypass between Kennedy Drive and the NSW/Queensland border.

To minimise the impact to motorists, work starting Sunday 28 April will be carried out from 8pm to 6am Sundays to Thursdays until Friday 10 May 2024, weather permitting.

Northbound traffic will be diverted at the Gold Coast Highway (Tugun exit) onto Tugun Currumbin Road rejoining the M1 Motorway at Currumbin.

Southbound traffic will be diverted at Tugun Currumbin Road (exit 95) onto Gold Coast Highway, re-joining the M1 Motorway at Tweed Heads West (Gold Coast Highway on-ramp).

These detour routes are suitable for all vehicles. Oversize and over mass vehicles are encouraged to contact Transport for NSW for further information.

Motorists are advised to allow at least 10 minutes additional travel time for the diversions, drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

The M1 Tugun Bypass will remain fully operational during the day, however at a reduced speed limit due to the asphalt works.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience while essential maintenance work is carried out.
