A woman has died following a car accident in Ballina.
At around 3pm yesterday (November 1, 2021), emergency services were called to Moon Street, Ballina, following reports of an accident.
Police were told an 82-year-old woman was getting into the passenger side of a parked Hyundai Getz when the car reversed and mounted a curb.
The woman was thrown to the ground and suffered serious head injuries.
She was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where she later died.
The driver – an 88-year-old woman – was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Richmond Police District have commenced an investigation into the incident.
A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Yes, extremely sad. A horrible way to go when you’re at the twilight of your life. I also feel very sad for the 88 yr old driver. I hope she can survive this tragedy.
