A team of flood recovery grants assessors is preparing to be deployed for a third time to support communities in Broadwater, Coraki, Evans Head, Woodburn and surrounds.
Speaking in Lismore today, Premier Dominic Perrottet said he had received positive feedback about the effectiveness of the flood grant support sessions.
‘The sessions held in Lismore last week resulted in the approval of more than 200 grants applications totalling almost $2.5 million and this result will be built on with further sessions scheduled for Lismore and Casino this week, and Evans Head the following week,’ Mr Perrottet said.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said the grants blitz team offered 45 minute face-to-face appointments to help walk people through the process of applying for grants, as well as the documentation required for an application to be approved.
‘More than 800 people have been assisted by the grants blitz team in the past week and I want to ensure that everyone who needs help gets it,’ Ms Cooke said.
Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis said people needed more opportunities to have face-to-face conversations during the grant application process.
‘Towns right across the Northern Rivers’ seven local government areas have been devastated by flooding, which is why it’s important residents in Broadwater, Coraki, Evans Head and Woodburn have access to the same expert help which has already made such a difference in Lismore,’ Mr Gulaptis said.
The grants blitz team will be based at Evans Head Recreation Hall, 7 Kirkland Court, Evans Head from Thursday, 23 to Saturday, 25 June.
This week the grants blitz team will be based in Casino and Lismore between Wednesday, 15 and Friday, 17 June.
