Regrettably for some writers to The Echo, the ongoing, unresolved Israel/Palestinian tragedy has degenerated into a simplistic narrative, and binary debate, often, without addressing the underlying current day causes, and context, with the backstory historical issues.
Throughout the exchanges of views in The Echo, never is it mentioned by writers the huge power imbalance that exists between the two sides – militarily and economically.
It should be abundantly clear this is used as leverage to assert geopolitical interests in the Middle East today, as the world reconfigures new strategic plans by the major powers – US, France, China, Russia, UK.
It is patently obvious the dominant bias comes into play, in this regard Israel, with a growing tendency of polarising Israeli exceptionalism, and the need for Palestinian statehood independence when taking sides in describing the unfolding humanitarian crisis.
The United Nations Humanitarian Agency has now officially declared genocide on the Palestinian people in Gaza, which amounts to international war crimes by Israel.
Unequivocal condemnation must be called by all towards Hamas for its barbarism, and medievalist ideology which has zero place in any genuine free democratic society.
What is urgently needed is a complete ceasefire by both sides – Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United Nations, and supported by US, France, China, Russia, and UK, to facilitate a rapid response to civilians of Gaza requiring humanitarian aid and support.
Israel, as justified as it is to self-defend, is completely and utterly overstepping its mandate, and is using this as a pretext to commit war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.
Peace can only be achieved by shared justice, and genuine democratic politics – not the politics on display now by both the Netanyahu government and Hamas.
