The national charity Rural Aid is encouraging Australia to put farmers front of mind today, on National Ag Day.
Rural Aid CEO John Warlters said the hard work of Aussie farmers is taken for granted too often. ‘There are families doing it incredibly tough at the moment, yet it’s an issue that’s barely making it onto the national agenda or national conversation,’ he said.
‘At Rural Aid, we believe it’s so significant that it has to come right to the very top of the list of priorities for everyday Aussie to understand, and hopefully contribute to, being part of that solution.’
How to help
Mr Warlters said there are dozens of ways to support Australians in the bush.
‘Celebrating our farmers on National Ag Day is as simple as going and buying some amazing produce and when you cook it up, have a conversation about where it came from and what it means to you.
‘They [Australian farmers] are the best in the world and they’re worthy of our thanks and gratitude,’ he said.
According to Rural Aid, farmers across the nation are at a crossroads, as dry conditions take hold. The public is encouraged to make a donation to Rural Aid, as a way of saying thanks to our farmers.
‘It’s a super challenging time for farming families right now, coming off the three driest months on record,’ said Mr Warlters.
‘Make a donation to the organisation that’s there to support farmers when they need a hand up.’
Rural Aid supports Australian farmers with financial, hay, counselling, drinking water and volunteer assistance.

Oh, these poor capitalist rip-off merchants !
They’re all doing it tough, with prices so high, they are hard pressed to pay their minimal taxes and don’t know where their next grant is coming from.
I’ve had it on sound authorities that some beef and sheep barons only sleep fitfully, terrorised by the possibility that their inhuman trade in inexpressibly cruel live exports may be effected by people with some moral backbone , who haven’t been totally corrupted by export dollars and refuse to be silenced by despicable antisocial, antidemocratic and down right evil laws that are designed criminalise advocates of justice.
Perhaps we could contribute to hampers for the likes of Gina, Clive Palmer and that despicable Adanti Indian chappy, all of whom are suffering along with our poor down trodden Aussie farmers, from ….China,India,America and anywhere else where money needs laundering and they too could benefit from some help such as “with financial, hay, counselling, drinking water and volunteer assistance.”
So send all donations to Ken , and I’ll see to it’s propper distribution.
Cheers,G”)
Those who deal in the flesh of others are not farmers, there are other words for them.
