Surfing NSW has announced the NSW Pro Surf Series for 2024, with two World Surf League Qualifying Series events to happen at Port Stephens and the Central Coast.

It’s to be the ninth NSW Pro Surf Series since the program started in 2016, with Surfing NSW saying it’s specifically timed and located to invite the ultimate exploration of NSW’s coastline.

The Pro Surf Series acts as a ‘road-trip blueprint for travelling athletes and their entourages’, this week’s announcement says.

World Surf League Asia Pacific Regional Tour Manager Ty Sorati says Port Stephens and the Central Coast have become staples on the program’s regional schedule, delivering ‘awesome’ conditions for surfers to compete in.

‘We can’t wait to see the next crop of Aussie up-and-comers qualify for the next Challenger Series season,’ Mr Sorati says.

The events have the support of NSW Minister for Tourism John Graham, Destination NSW and the local councils of Port Stephens and Central Coast, with Surfing NSW saying the collaborations and financial help are ‘pivotal’ for providing competitive pathways in Australia and championing a ‘rich surfing heritage’.

Next year’s program is to start with a two-day mens and womens qualifying series on Thursday 22nd February in Port Stephens, followed by five days of events on the Central Coast starting Monday 4th March.

Surfing NSW says all program events will be webcast through worldsurfleague.com and the WSL App.
