A teenage boy has been charged over his alleged involvement in two break and enters at Ballina on Tuesday.
About 7am Tuesday, 19 March, police were called to Catherine Crescent, Ballina, following reports two homes had been broken into.
At one of the homes, a set of car keys had allegedly been stolen, while the alleged offender was chased out of the second home empty-handed.
Police from Richmond Police District attended the homes and commenced inquiries into the incident.
A short time later, police stopped and spoke with a boy riding a bicycle nearby.
Police will allege in court that the boy was in possession of the car keys stolen from one of the homes.
The 13-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter with intent, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, larceny, and breach of bail.
He was refused police bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday, 19 March, where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday, 23 April 2024.
