Police have charged two men over an alleged carjacking and a police chase near Coffs Harbour on Saturday.

Officers from the Coffs-Clarence Police District issued a warning on Friday after two men allegedly carjacked a 4WD before striking and injuring a 57-year-old woman.

Police say they were patrolling Upper Orara Road in Karangi, north-west of Coffs Harbour, around 11.20am Saturday when they directed the driver of an SUV to stop, taking chase when the driver ignored their directions.

Officers say the police chase was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns and the SUV was later found abandoned on East Bank Road in Nana Glen.

Emergency services were reportedly called to a home on East Bank Road around twenty minutes later in response to the assault of a 66-year-old man.

Two men are accused of assaulting the man before driving away in his 4WD and hitting a woman who tried to stop the car at her gate.

Paramedics treated both alleged victims before taking them to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a stable condition.

Police say the 4WD was found about two hours later on fire on Mardells Road in Bucca, also near Coffs Harbour.

A police operation involving several units, including the dog unit and pol air, led to the arrest later on Friday of a 26-year-old man in Coffs Harbour.

Police took him to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged him with 25 offences, some related to domestic violence, including two outstanding arrest warrants for alleged domestic violence offences.

Around 5am Saturday police arrested the second suspect, a 37-year-old man at a home on Arthur Street in Coffs Harbour.

He’s charged with fourteen offences, some related to domestic violence, including two outstanding arrest warrants for alleged domestic violence offences.
