A 36-year-old man accused of using a toy gun to threaten bank workers in Ballina is to face court in January.
Police say the man went into a Ballina Bank Branch around 11am Thursday with a toy gun tucked into the front of his waistband.
He’s said to have accused staff of giving all his money away.
The man reportedly turned to leave but then turned back towards staff and threatened to shoot a worker’s legs.
As part of his threats, he’s alleged to have lifted his shirt to show what staff believed was a gun tucked in his waistband.
The same man is then accused of walking across the street to another financial institution and saying he had money there.
Staff told police they knew he wasn’t a customer and that he also lifted his shirt to show what looked like a gun to them.
Police found the suspect after he’d left the building and say they found a black and blue toy gun hidden in his waistband.
He’s been charged in relation to the incidents and has had bail refused with a scheduled appearance before the Ballina Local Court on 23 January.
