The Main Arm community came out in force on Saturday afternoon to show their appreciation to the local fire brigade and others from around the region that battled a fire in the area for six weeks.
Around 350 hectares were burnt out after the fire was accidentally started from a camp fire. Several houses came under threat during the fire but fortunately none were damaged.
‘We live in an amazing community and had the support of all the brigades from around the region,’ said Lance Hopson, captain of the Main Arm rural fire brigade.
Special thanks went to Mary-Anne and Alex who put together the thank you event and fundraiser that raised over $1,000.
‘The event has been like a little fire that turns into a big thing,’ continued captain Hopson.
Two local bands Blindmouth and the Saffron Pool Club house band played keep the audience entertained for the afternoon. Donations of prizes ranged from three nights in Bali hotel to art works, tickets to the Mullum Music Festival and local food.
Over $2000 was raised.
