Heavy music with a bang!

Ancient brewing tradition honoured

An annual event and brewing ritual to honour ancient brewing traditions was held at Stone & Wood’s Byron brewery last week.

A head-on crash between a semi-trailer and a sedan at Woodburn yesterday afternoon claimed the life of the sedan driver.

The Pacific Highway was closed in both directions soon after the accident but has now reopened under alternating (stop/slow) traffic conditions.

The accident happened  shortly before 5pm on the Pacific Highway, near the intersection of Wondawee Way.

Police say the dThe driver of the sedan died at the scene. The driver, who is believed to be the only occupant of the car, is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the semi-trailer was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where he will undergo mandatory blood and urine tests.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by specialist officers.

The Pacific Highway is currently closed in both directions and diversions are in place.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and check www.livetraffic.com for updates.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
