Husk Farm Distillery, Australia’s first farm-to-bottle rum distillery, has won gold at the prestigious 2023 NSW Tourism Awards.

This achievement comes as a major milestone for the family-run business that has weathered the storms of COVID interruptions, border closures, and floods since the opening of the cellar door in North Tumbulgum back in June 2019.

The Tweed region punched well above its weight this year, with Potager, Tweed Tourism Company and Tweed Eco Cruises also bringing home accolades.

The state tourism awards ceremony was held at the iconic White Bay Cruise Terminal Sydney this year, bringing together over 500 industry representatives to honour the outstanding contributions of tourism businesses across the state.

Husk Farm Distillery, home of Ink Gin and Husk Rum, is nestled on a sprawling 150-acre sugar cane and cattle farm.

The distillery offers visitors an immersive journey through farm-to-bottle experiences, tours, tastings, a full distillery bar and kitchen, cocktail gardens, and beautiful grounds.

Husk says this latest recognition is particularly poignant, as it coincides with the celebration of 12 months of uninterrupted trade, a significant feat for a business that faced numerous challenges in its early years.

Celebrating NSW

Paula Martin, Executive Director of the NSW Tourism Industry Council, said, ‘The NSW Tourism Awards celebrate those tourism experiences that inspire visitors to #feelnewsouthwales and recognize those businesses who exemplify outstanding tourism experiences.

Husk Farm Distillery say they are looking forward to representing NSW at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin on March 15, 2024, alongside fellow Northern Rivers winners Potager and Tweed Tourism Company.
